Press Conference Held in Abuja by the National Association Of Taraba State Youth Stakeholders Forum

On 26th Nov. 2015 At 10.00am.

Gentlemen of the press, ladies and gentlemen, it has become imperative for us to address you today on the recent political happenings in Taraba State, where the unfocused Taraba State Governorship Tribunal sitting in Abuja diabolically sacked our Dear Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku who has been duly and massively elected by the people of Taraba State-the People’s Mandate.

As a people who are well cultured, and nurtured to have respect for our elders, leaders and most importantly the Judiciary and the rule of law. We waited for the highly esteemed Judicial Professionals to call the tribunal to order by reversing the verdict and take more decisive action in redeeming the lost glory of the judicial system.

The tribunal diverted from their primary responsibility of trying post-election matters but dwelt on pre-election matters which is solely a PDP (party) affair thereby bringing total disgrace and embarrassment on the judiciary.

This was occasioned by the breakdown of law and order especially in Wukari and its environs where lives and property worth billions of naira were lost and destroyed in Taraba State.

The above named association in collaboration with:

  • Concerned Youth of Taraba (CYT),
  • National Union Of Taraba State Students (NUTASS),
  • National Youth Council Of Nigeria,
  • Taraba State Chapter (NYC),
  • Danbaba /Darius Solidarity Forum (DDSF)
  • Movement For The Restoration Of Youth (MOFRY)
  • Taraba Volunteer Group (TVG),
  • Fortune Global Network (FGN) and
  • Divine Favour Group (DFG)

are therefore left with no option than to cry out to the world through your esteem medium to bring to the lime light this great injustice meted to the good people of Taraba State.

The verdict of the Taraba State Governorship elections tribunal that sat in Abuja has heightened political tension as our great nation, Nigeria is currently faced with unprecedented challenges that have threatened our common freedom and the corporate peace we all enjoy.

The freedom to wake up and go about our daily life without the fear of being sidelined, subjugated, or even terrorized by others and the peace we had consequent upon the assurance of having common interest, common values, common culture and common civility have all been eroded which we expect the judiciary to serve as arbiter.

We the youth are peace loving and law abiding citizens of Taraba State which is the most peaceful in the northeast Geo-political zone of Nigeria and understandably, the indispensable leaders of tomorrow; the source of the society’s energy and the pillar upon which the growth of every society lies.

The Taraba Youth regret and condemn in strong terms the unconstitutional expression and unpatriotic posture of Mr President, Mohammadu Buhari at one of his Official Functions in Aso Villa . He made a statement while addressing the Minister of Women Affairs Haj. Aisha Jummai Alhassan as “Her Excellency”.

The question that readily comes to mind is if the constitution of the Federal Republic has provision for two governors in a state at the same time?

It is the fervent hope of Taraba Youth that the appellate court would do justice to this.

We the Youth of Taraba State have absolute confidence in the judicial system.

Meanwhile we the Youth of Taraba State call on all peace loving Tarabans to remain calm and law abiding as the Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku remains the Governor, implementing the rescue agenda and always advocate for peace in return for development.

  • Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  • Long live Taraba State
  • Long live the National Association of Taraba Youth Stakeholders Forum
